A fleet of autonomous shuttles (3 real, 2 simulated) needed a cloud-native platform for bookings, route optimisation and field operations.

My role & decisions
Designed a scalable microservices architecture with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud Gateway.
Wired sync and async service-to-service communication with Kafka, OpenFeign and WebClient.
Built a dynamic scheduling engine that optimises routes under real-time constraints: delays, execution queues, automatic recovery.
Designed secured APIs (JWT, HTTPS) the shuttles call to scan passenger QR codes live.
Added real-time shuttle tracking over WebSocket, and fleet notifications with Kafka and Firebase.
Migrated from a VPS to Kubernetes (Deployments, StatefulSets, Ingress, health probes) with S3-compatible storage, and automated releases with GitHub Actions behind Nginx and SSL.
